Running stories from around the world
Like the Wind explores running culture around the world through long form stories, delivered in a coffee table quality magazine.
Since 2014, Like the Wind has been publishing stories that explore running culture. Whether that is by delving back into history, profiling today’s runners or looking at social issues through the lens of running, we’re all about ‘why we run’ (not how to run).
The magazine was launched by Julie and Simon Freeman, a husband and wife team, after they ran around the Mont Blanc for their honeymoon. The two runners wanted a magazine that explored running culture and simply asked themselves ‘how hard can it be to create a magazine’ … little did they know.
Initially a side project to another business Julie and Simon owned, since the start of 2023, Like the Wind has been the couple’s full time occupation. They have been joined by a small team of passionate running storytellers as well as hundreds of contributors over the years.
Now - on a mission to deliver long form pieces to more runners - the Like the Wind team has created this Substack as a home for great stories. We hope you enjoy what you read here.
